High St. and in the Summit County Clerk of Courts Office, second floor, 53 University Ave. - (330) 643-2211.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
• HOW DO I MAKE A BARKING DOG COMPLAINT?
Barking dog complaints can be made to the dog warden by calling (330) 375-2320. Your complaint will then be investigated and the appropriate action taken by the dog warden.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS
• WHAT DO I DO IF I'M RECEIVING HANG UP OR HARASSING PHONE CALLS?
You have several options to stop harassing phone calls.
• Change your phone number, make it unlisted and unpublished, and control who you give your new number to. This is a drastic solution, but it will stop the phone calls immediately.
• If you know the number from which the harassing calls originate, you can contact your local phone company and have that number blocked. This ensures that calls from the problem caller will not be connected to your phone.
• You can purchase privacy manager or a similar call screening service from your local phone company. Then, only family and friends you give an access code to will be connected to your phone.
• Contact your local phone company and get a tap put on your phone line. This tap will record all phone numbers calling your phone for a specified period of time. If your local phone company requires that you also make a police report, you can do so online or by calling (330) 375-2552. To aid prosecution, keep a notepad by your phone to record the days and times the harassing calls occur so the phone company or prosecutor can match the offender's phone number to the tap records.
PROTECTION (RESTRAINING) ORDERS
• HOW DO I GET A PROTECTION (RESTRAINING) ORDER AGAINST SOMEONE?
Criminal protection orders are issued by the Municipal Court in cases of Domestic Violence and certain other crimes of violence. If you are a victim of one of these crimes, the officer handling your case will complete the required paperwork and assist you in activating the protection order.
Civil protection orders are issued with the help of a civil attorney in a civil court. These orders are enforced by the police department, but are not issued by the police department/criminal court. For more information on civil protection orders, contact a private attorney or call Victim's Assistance at (330) 376-0040.

• HOW ARE CALLS FOR SERVICE PRIORITIZED AND DISPATCHED?
When calls are received in the radio room, they are prioritized to ensure that the most serious incidents requiring immediate police attention are handled first. High priority calls typically include crimes in progress and/or incidents where there is immediate risk of harm to persons or property. When you call to report a crime or incident, your call is given a numerical priority from 1 to 6, with 1 being the highest priority. The dispatcher then assigns the calls to officers based on this priority rating.
• WHAT DO THE CALL PRIORITY RATINGS MEAN?
General priority ratings are:
PRIORITY 1: In progress incidents where death or serious injury has occurred or continues to occur. Can include signal 21 (officer needs help) calls, mass casualty incidents, and natural disasters.
PRIORITY 2: In progress incidents involving the immediate threat of death or serious injury. Can include robberies or burglaries in progress where a weapon is being used, fights with weapons, and serious traffic accidents.
PRIORITY 3: In progress incidents involving possible/unknown threat of death or serious injury. Can include 911 hang-up calls, robberies or burglaries in progress where no weapon is being used, traffic accidents with reported injury, and large fights without weapons.
PRIORITY 4: In progress incidents with little threat of death or serious injury, or priority 2 or 3 calls that are no longer in progress. Can include reports on robberies, burglaries, or other felony crimes, thefts in progress, non-injury traffic accidents, and unruly juveniles.
PRIORITY 5: Incidents where there is no threat of death or serious injury. Can include reports on misdemeanor crimes, traffic complaints, and "meet a party" calls for general advice.
PRIORITY 6: Incidents where immediate police response is not necessary, or response from another agency is being arranged. Can include check in patrol requests, barking dog complaints, and utility outages.

• WHY DO YOU TAKE SOME REPORTS AND NOT OTHERS ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE?
If there are mitigating factors (the crime is in progress, there is evidence to collect, you have a suspect description, etc.) an officer will be dispatched to handle your incident. In many cases, especially where the report is being made for insurance or civil law requirements or you just want to make the police aware of what crime is occurring in your neighborhood, submitting your report online or through telephone reporting will save you time and free patrol officers to respond to more serious crimes.
